Privacy Policy
This policy covers obddashx.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.
Who we are
OBD DashX is made by Zymbia Interactive. This site is our free OBD-II reference: plain-English explanations of diagnostic trouble codes — what a code means, whether the car is safe to drive, likely causes, and how to fix it. We also make the OBD DashX Android app; this policy is about the website.
What we collect
Anonymous usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count things like which pages get read, roughly which country a visit came from, and whether people find what they searched for. We do not ask GA4 to identify you, and we do not upload names or email addresses to it.
If — and only if — you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email
address, your display name, and the URL of your Google profile picture. We also create a
random session identifier and store it in a cookie named __Secure-session. That
cookie lasts 30 days, is marked HttpOnly (so page scripts cannot read it) and
Secure (so it is only ever sent over HTTPS). It exists to keep you signed in;
it is not an advertising or tracking cookie.
What we don't do
We do not sell your data. We do not run ads on this site. We do not share your information with anyone beyond the service providers that make the site work:
- Google — sign-in, and analytics.
- Cloudflare — hosting and the database that stores accounts.
Those providers process data on our behalf, under their own security terms. Nobody else gets it. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not do anything with your email beyond running your account and replying if you write to us.
Signing in is optional
Every generic OBD-II code page on this site is free and needs no account. You can read all of it, in any language we publish, without telling us who you are. Signing in exists for one reason: manufacturer-specific content, which is tied to an account. If you never need that, you never need to sign in — and then the only data we hold about you is the anonymous analytics described above.
Your choices
- Sign out at any time at /auth/logout. That clears the session cookie.
- Delete your account data. Email [email protected] from the address you signed in with and ask us to delete it. We will remove your email, name and profile-picture URL from our database.
- Clear cookies in your browser to remove anything this site has stored on your device.
Children
This is a car-repair reference and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and move the date below. Material changes will be obvious, not buried.
