P0264

Cylinder 2 Injector A Circuit Low

Fuel injector circuit Generic OBD-II High

What it means

P0264 means the ECM detected a low-voltage condition — usually a short-to-ground or open — in the electrical circuit that fires cylinder 2's fuel injector. When that injector can't pulse correctly, cylinder 2 runs weak or dead, causing a rough-running misfire. It's primarily an electrical fault in the injector wiring, connector, or the injector itself.

High

Can I keep driving? Drivable but not advisable — a dead or weak cylinder 2 injector causes a misfire that can overheat and damage the catalytic converter.

Figures reflect only diagnostic scans recorded through our own apps and tools. Common symptoms

What you'll notice

Common causes

Most likely first

  1. Short-to-ground or open (low signal) in the cylinder 2 injector circuit wiring
  2. Damaged, corroded, or loose connector at the cylinder 2 injector
  3. Failed injector coil/winding on cylinder 2
  4. Faulty injector driver in the engine control module (ECM) — least common

How to diagnose & fix

Work through it in order

  1. Read freeze-frame data and confirm the fault is isolated to cylinder 2.
  2. Inspect the cylinder 2 injector connector and wiring for a short to ground, corrosion, or damage.
  3. Measure the injector's resistance and compare to the other injectors and to spec.
  4. Swap or replace the injector if out of range; if wiring and injector are good, have the ECM driver checked. Clear and re-test.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is it safe to drive with P0264?+
Not for long. A misfiring cylinder dumps unburned fuel into the exhaust and can quickly damage the catalytic converter, so repair it soon.
Can I just clear P0264?+
It clears, but an injector-circuit fault returns until the wiring, connector, or injector is repaired.
