Cylinder 3 Fuel Injector A Offset Learning At Max Limit
What it means
P02D1 means the ECM's learned fuel-offset correction for the cylinder 3 injector has reached its maximum limit — it can no longer trim enough to compensate for that injector's drift. This usually points to a worn injector, missing or wrong calibration codes after an injector swap, or a wiring/control-module fault. Left alone, it tends to progress into rough running or a misfire.
Can I keep driving? Usually still drivable with the light on, but the injector is drifting out of calibration, so running and emissions can suffer — have it checked before it worsens.

Figures reflect only diagnostic scans recorded through our own apps and tools. Cars are typically scanned because a symptom or warning light prompted it, so these counts describe our scan records — not the incidence of faults in any model, and not the quality, reliability, or safety of any vehicle. Common symptoms
What you'll notice
- Check-engine light on
- Often no strong driving symptom early on
- Rough idle, slight power loss, or a cylinder-3 misfire as it worsens
- Faint smoke or a knock (diesel)
Common causes
Most likely first
- Worn or out-of-calibration cylinder 3 injectorLikely
- Incorrect or missing injector calibration codes after a swapCommon
- Wiring or connector fault to the injector or its control moduleCommon
- Faulty fuel injector control module (FICM)Less often
How to diagnose & fix
Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and check for cylinder-3 misfire or contribution codes.
- Verify the injector's calibration/coding is correctly programmed for that cylinder.
- Inspect the injector and control-module wiring, connectors, and grounds.
- Test and, if needed, replace the cylinder 3 injector, then reprogram its codes.
- Clear the code and re-test.
