Cruise Control On Signal
What it means
P0565 means the module cannot properly read the signal that tells it the cruise control has been switched on. As a result the cruise control may not activate or may behave erratically. It is a convenience-system fault only — it does not affect how the engine runs, stops, or shifts.
Can I keep driving? Fully drivable — only the cruise control is affected. Engine, brakes, and transmission are unaffected.

Figures reflect only diagnostic scans recorded through our own apps and tools. Cars are typically scanned because a symptom or warning light prompted it, so these counts describe our scan records — not the incidence of faults in any model, and not the quality, reliability, or safety of any vehicle. How to diagnose & fix
Work through it in order
- Scan live data to see whether the module registers the 'on' signal when you press the switch.
- Test the cruise on/off switch for correct operation.
- Inspect the switch wiring, connectors, and fuse for damage or corrosion.
- Check the clock spring if the switches are on the steering wheel.
- Replace the switch or module if the signal never reaches the ECM. Clear and re-test.
