  2. Short circuit or open circuit in the wiring connected to the sensor reference voltage circuit
  3. Faulty sensor that is connected to the sensor reference voltage circuit
  4. Problem with the power supply or ground connection to the sensor reference voltage circuit
  5. Malfunctioning Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

How to diagnose & fix

Work through it in order

  1. Check engine light (MIL) illuminates
  2. Engine may run rough or misfire
  3. Decreased fuel efficiency
  4. Vehicle may not start or may have difficulty starting
  5. Reduced engine power or performance
