Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor A Circuit
What it means
P2452 means the engine computer sees an electrical fault in the particulate filter differential pressure sensor circuit. This sensor measures pressure across the diesel particulate filter so the computer can time regeneration. The engine usually still runs, but with the sensor offline the filter can gradually clog, so the wiring, sample hoses, and sensor should be checked.
Can I keep driving? Usually drivable, but the sensor that manages filter regeneration is offline, so get it checked before the particulate filter can clog.

Figures reflect only diagnostic scans recorded through our own apps and tools. Cars are typically scanned because a symptom or warning light prompted it, so these counts describe our scan records — not the incidence of faults in any model, and not the quality, reliability, or safety of any vehicle. Common symptoms
What you'll notice
- Check-engine light on
- Possible reduced power or limp mode
- Regeneration warning or more frequent regeneration attempts
- Often no obvious symptom besides the light
Common causes
Most likely first
- Corroded or loose connector at the particulate filter pressure sensorLikely
- Open or shorted wiring in the sensor circuitCommon
- Failed differential pressure sensorCommon
- Blocked, cracked, or disconnected pressure sample hosesLess often
- Failed PCM/ECM (rare)Less often
How to diagnose & fix
Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and inspect the pressure sensor connector and wiring for corrosion, opens, or shorts.
- Check the pressure sample hoses to the filter for blockage, cracks, or soot.
- Compare the sensor's live reading to expected values with a scan tool.
- Replace the differential pressure sensor if it fails testing.
- Clear the code and re-test; confirm regeneration operates normally afterward.
