What it means
P0244 means the "A" wastegate actuator isn't controlling boost within the expected range — the ECM commands a boost level and the wastegate doesn't respond correctly. That can let the turbo overboost or fall short, and the ECM usually limits power to protect the engine. Most often it's a sticking wastegate, a leaking boost-control hose, or a failing solenoid rather than the turbo itself.
