What it means

P0480 means the ECM has detected a fault in the control circuit for cooling fan 1. The engine still runs, but if the fan won't turn on the engine can overheat in traffic or at idle, and the A/C may cool poorly when stopped. The usual causes are a failed fan relay, a bad fan motor, or wiring problems — start with the fuse and relay before condemning the motor.
