Throttle Actuator A Control Module Performance
What it means
P2108 means the ECM has detected that the electronic throttle actuator control isn't performing as expected — the throttle isn't responding the way the module commands. It's commonly caused by a dirty throttle body, a wiring fault, or a failing throttle actuator, and the car may fall back to a reduced-power mode to stay safe.
Can I keep driving? Usually drivable, but the ECM may drop the engine into reduced-power 'limp' mode; get it looked at soon, especially if power sags on the highway.

Figures reflect only diagnostic scans recorded through our own apps and tools. Cars are typically scanned because a symptom or warning light prompted it, so these counts describe our scan records — not the incidence of faults in any model, and not the quality, reliability, or safety of any vehicle. Common symptoms
What you'll notice
- Check-engine light on
- Reduced power or 'limp' (failsafe) mode
- Rough or unstable idle
- Hesitation or poor throttle response
Common causes
Most likely first
- Faulty throttle body / throttle actuator motorLikely
- Dirty or carbon-fouled throttle bore causing sticky operationCommon
- Wiring or connector faults in the throttle actuator circuitCommon
- Failing throttle actuator control module or ECM/PCMLess often
How to diagnose & fix
Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and check for related throttle codes (P2100-P2103, P2110) to narrow it down.
- Clean the throttle body and bore, then clear the code and re-test before replacing parts.
- Inspect the throttle actuator wiring and connector for damage, corrosion, or a poor connection.
- Test the throttle body/actuator motor; replace the throttle body if it fails or sticks.
- If wiring and throttle body check out, suspect the control module/ECM.
